Top 5 Takeaways from Top Producing Real Estate Agents

Top producing real estate agents on Mastermind Panel
Top producing Keller Williams Agents (left to right):
Andrew Monaghan, Mandi Ross, Jon Brath, and Lou Rugolo

Ever since 2004, I’ve worked with top producing Realtors, rookie agents, and everything in between.  Over the years, I’ve noticed that there are certain qualities that successful agents all have in common.  A recent panel at a Mega Agent Mastermind meeting at Keller Williams SonoranLiving was a fantastic reminder of what separates the successful professional Realtors from the “hobbyists.”

The event was a panel discussion with four Keller Williams Mega Agents.  Each shared their expertise, what was working, how they got to where they are, and what they’re doing to achieve the next steps in their business.

I thought the key takeaways from these four top producers were so important and vital to the business of any real estate agent that I HAD to share them with you.

I Just Can't Do it Anymore!

Seriously.  I've had it.  It finally happened.

As an entrepreneur, we have this tendency to handle everything ourselves.  We start with our Big Idea, the one that sparks a flame inside that turns into an inferno.  We HAVE to share it with the world.  It's our passion, our mission.  We fan the flames for a little while to determine if there's a way to turn our passion into a viable business.

If you are an entrepreneur in ANY phase of the game, then you know exactly what I'm talking about.  You've been there, done that, have the T-shirt.  Er, should I say, the website?!

What Motivates You?

Motivation.  We think we understand what we need to light the fire underneath us, and what we need to keep us going.  The video below shows us fascinating research about the truth behind what motivates us.  Findings that offering too much money is actually de-motivating to employees fascinates me.

"Pay people enough to take the issue of money off the table."  That seems to be the key to monetary motivation.  Yet we are in a society bombarded by Self-Proclaimed Wealth Coaches, Success Gurus, and Money Masters, all who have the "key" to unlocking our unlimited earning potential.  Could it be that they're all barking up the wrong tree?

When people matter

When I know I matter to someone, I make an effort to use their products or services instead of someone I don't know. I can't even remember the last time I pulled out the Yellow Pages to find someone to give my business to, can you? (Okay, wait. I do remember. It was to call a cab. I guess I don't network with very many cab drivers....so if you own a transportation company, get out there and meet people!)

This is why I started on a venture based on just that...letting people know they matter. This IS the law of attraction in action! When you reach out to people for any reason, it lets them know you care. And when they know you care, they WANT to give back to you. And we all know the adage:

People don't care how much you know, until they know how much you CARE.

When I joined SendOutCards, I made a commitment to send out one unexpected card every day. I've stayed true to that for the most part, and I've seen what it has done for my relationships, both personal and professional. When I started getting phone calls from my clients, saying "thank you" for thinking of them, I was floored. So it's been a truly valuable layer to building and maintaining relationships.

So what do you do that you find to work in building your business relationships?
